Renishaw Equator™ system: educational package for NIMS

To standardize and uphold student skill levels, many trade schools (including some machine tool manufacturers educational centers) have aligned their training with the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification. To help support this initiative, Renishaw has developed an Equator gauging system package for instant inspection results for NIMS parts.

Benefits of our Equator package for NIMS

Pre-loaded gauging programs
The Equator system is pre-loaded with tested and proven gauging programs for each NIMS part, ready to run. Metrology fixturing is included readily assembled to hold the parts and the correct probe styli are ready to go.

Rapid gauging results
Measurement results are almost immediate providing the student with a pass or fail. If the part has failed, the student and teacher can quickly assess the results and know how to overcome the error, keeping the student motivated and engaged for a re-take.

Simple interface
'Organiser' is a user-friendly operator interface, allowing easy program selection and execution with a clear display of results.

Shopfloor gauging
The Equator system can measure confidently in machine shop environments. It can cope with thermal variation by re-zeroing the system, it uses a standard 110V power supply and does not require compressed air.

No machine calibration required
Equators do not need annual machine calibration due to the integral re-mastering process. The system is effectively calibrated on a far more frequent basis, every time the master part is used to ‘zero' the machine.

Key manufacturing insights
By introducing advanced manufacturing solutions, students gain early insights into the quality assurance and the realities of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards in the current manufacturing enviornment.
