Enhanced learning for future engineers and physicists
The library has been completely redesigned to enhance learning experiences for students and arose from a review of the University’s Library Service which aimed to provide world-leading research facilities, inspiring learning environments and expert support for all library users. Key elements of the new design include the group study rooms, research lounge, wireless networks and a modern ‘computer bar’.
In addition to Renishaw the project also attracted sponsorship from organisations including The Wolfson Foundation, Corus, Mott MacDonald, ARUP and the South Wales Institute of Engineering. Speakers at the opening on the 25th March also included Professor Malcolm Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor - Estates, and University Librarian Janet Peters. About Cardiff University Founded by Royal Charter in 1883, today the University combines impressive modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and research. The University’s breadth of expertise in research and research-led teaching encompasses: the humanities; the natural, physical, health, life and social sciences; engineering and technology; preparation for a wide range of professions; and a longstanding commitment to lifelong learning.
